Philosophy


The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall function to serve the amateur radio community in and around Pike county. In addition, the club will serve the community in whatever way is deemed appropriate by the membership. This may include but not be limited to participation in SKYWARN activities, ARES and cooperation with local governments in times of emergency as agreed upon by the club and local authorities. Its members shall function in support of the club and of one another to achieve harmony, fellowship, and advancement of the Amateur Radio hobby through increased learning and practice of the art. Membership in the club is open to any amateur radio operator who wishes to contribute to the advancement of the club and is considered a member in good standing upon payment of yearly dues. The Southeastern AM Radio Club is affiliated with the Concord Amateur Radio Society. Members of the Concord Amateur Radio Society may join the SAMRC by sending $2.00 in lifetime dues to the President of the club. The club meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. on 3885 k.c. and is operated in the AM mode. The club's purpose is to promote AM activity and the buying and selling of AM related equipment. Members of the SAMRC may join the Concord Amateur Radio Society through payment of dues. Members of the SAMRC are free to participate in Field Day activities and other special events of the Concord Amateur Radio Club.

Club Callsign

The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall operate its net and all Special Event activities using the callsign: W4AMI. W4AMI is licensed to Dr. Ronald W. Johnson, WB4GWA who is trustee. Likewise, W4AMI is the official callsign of the SAMRC and the use of the callsign is up to the discretion of the trustee who is a lifetime officer in the SAMRC.

Dues

The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall levy dues of $20.00 yearly. Dues must be paid in January of each year. Members who do not pay their dues will be asked to withdraw from the club.

Meetings

The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall hold monthly meetings on the second Saturday of each month. Meeting time will be 7:00 p.m. at a location agreed upon by the members of the club. Officers The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall have a President, Vice-President and Program Director, Secretary and Treasurer, and Special Activities Coordinator. The officers serve as the executive committee for a period of one year. The duties of each office shall be: President: Convene the club and be responsible for promotion of fellowship and cooperation of all club members. The president shall also be responsible for addressing any issues that need to be brought before the club. The president shall be responsible for calling for vote of the club on actions that are brought before the club. All officers of the club are responsible to the President for their actions on behalf of the club. The president shall serve for a period of one year and may be re-elected for a second term. The president can serve additional terms as long as additional terms (two years if elected for a second term) are separated by one year of non- service on the executive committee. Vice-President and Program Director: The Vice-President shall be available to substitute for the President when the President is not available to convene the club. Additional duties shall be to help the President with club functions. Primary to the duty of the Vice-President shall be to present a program of technical interest at each monthly meeting. The program will generally be 30 to 60 minutes in length. The Vice-President can receive help from other members or the President in the presentation of all programs. The Vice-President term shall be the same as the President. Secretary and Treasurer: The duties of the Secretary and Treasurer shall be to take appropriate minutes for the club and to present the minutes at each meeting. The Treasurer shall open an account to deposit all club dues and will write checks on behalf of the club at the direction of the President following action by the club. A monthly treasurer's report shall be presented to the club and all monies must be accounted for and balanced. The Secretary and Treasurer's term shall be the same as the other officers. Special Activities Coordinator: The duties of the Special Activities Coordinator shall be to arrange for the annual Field Day exercises and to coordinate all participants for the event. Other club members can be asked to help with any special activities. Participation in ARES events and SKYWARN events will also be under the coordination of the Special Activities Coordinator. The Special Activities Coordinator's term shall be the same as the other officers.

Discipline

Any member of the club who is found to be disruptive to the club or who does not represent the best interest of Amateur Radio will be asked to resign from the club. The dues of the member will be refunded for a one year membership.

Repeater

The Concord Amateur Radio Society offers for use two repeaters and is free of charge to all club members. The repeater is privately owned but is available and open to all. The frequencies of: 145.250 and 443.400, both with a PL tone of 110.9, comprise the repeaters. It should be the responsibility of all club members to encourage use of the machines and to operate according to the standards of Amateur Radio. No Citizens Band language, foul language, or malicious interference is allowed on the repeaters. Each member should use appropriate Amateur Radio language and operating procedures. The owner and trustee of the repeater is free to upgrade the machines or make any change that is deemed beneficial by the owner for the sake of the community, or the advancement of their enjoyment of the hobby, as long as the repeater remains privately owned. A control operator for the repeater shall be appointed by the trustee of the repeaters and shall serve at the discretion of the trustee. The control operator is responsible to the trustee and will control the repeater as directed by the trustee.

New Amateurs

The Concord Amateur Radio Society will hold in reserve certain equipment that can be made available to new hams to enable them to get on the air until such time as they can purchase their own stations. The club will loan out equipment for up to 6 months, with the option, at the discretion of the President and Vice President, to extend the loan for one additional 6 month period; but not longer than 12 months total. The user is responsible for the equipment and it must be returned in good condition and in working order. If the equipment fails, the borrower must have the equipment repaired back to operating condition. It is the responsibility of the club members to encourage others to enter Amateur Radio and to provide encouragement for all to learn.

Nets

The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall participate in a weekly net for the purpose of fellowship, sharing of information, and exchange of equipment through a swap shop. The net will also function as a preparedness exercise in the event of emergency. The net will be called by the repeater control operator and shall use the callsign W4AMI and be identified as the Concord Amateur Radio Club net. The net will convene on Thursday evenings at 9:00 p.m. on 145.250. PL tone will be disabled for the net. The Concord Amateur Radio Society shall also be encouraged to participate in the Southeast Linked Repeater Net on Wednesday evenings at 9:00 p.m. on 145.250 repeater. Members should identify to the SLRN that they are operating through the Concord Repeater System. Note: The Constitution and Bylaws may be altered by a majority vote of its members. A special committee of three appointed by the President shall bring all alterations to the club for vote. When passed, revisions will be added to the document.

Initial Officers

To enhance the success of the club the following officers are suggested to serve the first year. Each may be elected to a second term.
